    Why did I say this...

    Because you were joking and it's actually a simple '12x CPU/RAM/Disk/BW(@10Gbps) & 90% discount price'. 🤞

@VirMach you said that you were going to have a new location in the future, can I order my Mystery Box in that future Mystery location ?

I feel like accepting preorders automatically curses any upcoming plans.

Just don't reveal the location during preoder? It adds more fun and makes it more of a loot box.
It won't be APAC so MJJ wouldn't be much of an issue

Maybe @VirMach could colo with MzunguHosting's Antarctica server for that.

To the contrary, they'll all buy hundreds of them, get pissed when it's NOT APAC, and then DDoS Virmach for weeks.

  • I'll be placing this out of stock early today as well, let's say in 15 minutes. With the PHXZ004 migration, everything else, as well as this one being ordered more and it being more time consuming to process, and needing sleep, I think now would be a good time to start on them.

  • Originally was going to purchase one in AMS and one in Tokyo, but the 127% surcharge (for this deal) on Tokyo is pretty rough without knowing the specs. In the end I just went with one in AMS to replace my current one that's being sunset in January. Hope this doesn't come bite me later ;)

Alright, third day sale is over.

Okay before I reveal what the mystery is, two big disclaimers. (1) It will be done exactly how it's described which means a lot of chance is involved in this one so do not get your hopes up, and (2) there's a chance that it would have been lower but I will not be reducing it if that occurs, once they're done I'll announce it so you'll know for sure if yours was one of those or if it just hasn't been processed yet, since they would look the same. Probably don't look at it until I say I'm done otherwise the suspense may end up being excruciating.

    1. Specifications that match what VPSBLackFriday Flash Deal would have been on the node you landed on. If it's lower, it stays the same.

Now some further clarifications as I'm sure there will be questions:

    • This is what it would have been and not what's currently displayed on the website. It means I'll be processing the math in the same way or close to the same way the system would be churning them out. They will be closer to the manual deals since they're being done manually. My brain has a good idea of exactly what I would have put for your node, so it won't just be resources divided by whatever quantity, it may receive multipliers if for example my brain says that would have been a better fit than smaller plans.
    • It is based on the node you landed on so I'll be processing them in batches with matching nodes. This means if someone landed on the same exact node as you, both of you will be getting the same specifications.
    • For "if it's lower" if any portion of it is higher, you'll be getting the difference added for that specification, not just that if it's lower at all or generally then it'll stay the same.
    • If there's any disputes on the fairness of what was generated, and every person who landed on the same node agrees (it could just be you) I'll allow you to request I look at it again. The request may be accepted or declined, and if it's accepted, I'll look through logs specifically for the most recent suggested plan for that node instead and using that, whether it's lower or higher.

If anyone bought Tokyo I think they'll end up being very pleased with the outcome. Not guaranteed, but based on how they generally tend to be on the larger size. They'll be on average much larger than the ones (for Tokyo) because Tokyo has specific code in the automation that tries to make it smaller since that's preferred for that location and I'm doing these manually. Location matters a lot for this mystery, but for any super crazy one it will just be ending up on a weird lopsided node probably. We'll see!

So for this one I think it'll actually be more fun if I post the offers by node. This way you'll know if I'm working on it sooner and know exactly whether or not yours got done and what it was. I'll post them as if they're flash sales, so you'll also get to see the price I would have put on it (keep in mind again if it's lower specifications I won't actually be reducing anything and the pricing posted here has nothing to do with your service's actual price. I'll be presenting the mock price as per two years.)

They'll go in clusters of nodes from oldest to newest orders.

  • Next up... okay this one is one I would have normally skipped because it's low on resources but I'll proceed as if I have to do it, I'm not sure how it'll end up. For reference this last sold at $8.74 a year on December 23rd or so and the specs were 1GB memory, 1 Core, 20GB disk, 2.5TB bandwidth and 2 IPv4 which is weird because it's low on IPs, I guess it's lower on other things or it broke the script with a weird edge case. It actually divided it by 3 which I won't be doing but at the same time this is after it already sold some of the remaining space. Let's see what it ends up looking like I guess (ohh I see why it gave multiple IPs.) I'm actually evaluating these exactly as I would, this is definitely a tricky one. Yeah, it's taking too long. I'm deferring it for now.

I can't see which node I'm on because trying to load the Solus page for the very first time led to this immediately after I clicked the box to simply see the captcha:

I can't YABS it because VNC shows it's stuck in a kernel panic and rebooting isn't fixing it. lol

  • Our first Amsterdam and first real disappointment of the night. Oh I feel bad doing this, I thought I wouldn't feel bad but... okay I know what I'll do. This is one of the nodes that's part of the upcoming changes in Amsterdam I described some pages ago on another thread. I'm going to pretend as if those changes already went through, because otherwise this node has 130 free IPv4 and @msatt would get nothing. That would technically be better for us anyway and I should probably code something out for this type of upcoming big change for the auto deals too. It's still not too great but you might get some boost. Okay nope. Hmm... I guess all the deals that have sold on this node have been pretty much the same small plans as a result of ...

Okay I've figured it out. It turns out that this node has way too many IP addresses, and I'm completely flipping my logic. We're selling plans based on how they are now, not how they might be, and it has 130 of them. That's so many. We'll never be able to sell all of them so there's only one thing we can do here since the resources are otherwise so low per IP.
