Seems like WordPress is gonna refuse plugins with "WP" in their name. WPVivid Backup Plugin comes to mind.

On my own homepage, I currently use WPAstra Theme (Pro) + Gutenberg Blocks+Qubely Pro Pagebuilder (which offers custom Gutenberg Blocks).

Yeah, still not much a fan of Gutenberg either. Especially vanilla (without any custom block plugins). But even with.. meh.

Anyone else has noticed/run into the issue described in this Post in a Divi FB group? I have used LSCache so far, but without (noticeable) issues.

The very same guy tested some Caching Plugins with Divi upon their behaviour on first page load. This was the result:

Currently I enable Quic DNS, so on my header x-litespeed-cache always miss while x-qc-cache always hit

The search is basically my main "call to action" as the marketing folks say.

Maybe I have just seen too many cookie-banners, but I can't have it anymore, these days, when my first view of a page (after optionally having clicked a cookie banned) is blocked/limited due to some overlaying content (as here is the searchbar). I get the idea behind it, and if your visitors prefer that, tha's great, but I really dig Design A at this point.

Ah, my bad. Of course, the search bar thing is not the same as a cookie-consent thingy popping up. What I was trying to say is that, because of all the cookie banners that exist nowadays, I am kinda allergic to anything that blocks my first view on a page. Since I opened your Design B on my phone and the first thing I (want to) see is the Image with the bike my view is kinda limited by the overlayed text and search bar. So, what I am saying is I would prefer a more "clean" first image. Like, only search bar, or only one line of text. This way it seems a bit crowded and makes my eyes kinda conotate it with the feeling I get when seeing cookie banners. I hope that makes more sense, now?

Also, getting rid of the ads you mentioned would also help ofc

I am not sure the exact cause, but some of my blog page did not have padding/margin, so the layout is broken.

Two cause that come into mind during obrservation either quic DNS or divi CSS optimization.

I had a similar problem (layout with little to no distance to blog posts) with my starting page which displayed blog posts using the blog module. I contacted support and they fixed it via remote access and sent me even a Loom video how they did it. Was a case of some margins I forgot I had in place and also one of the CSS options from Divi.. Was sorted within a couple hours though. Divi support has stepped up their game.

Looking good. I guess I won't be dropping WP any time soon (also business related), however I can definitely see the appeal

I just installed ClassicPress (using Softaculous on MyW.pt DA), and then Divi theme.
Seems to work fine. (Except PHP 8 made it go blank. PHP 7.4 works fine.)

I just installed ClassicPress (using Softaculous on MyW.pt DA), and then Divi theme.
Seems to work fine. (Except PHP 8 made it go blank. PHP 7.4 works fine.)

Yeah I have been having issues with php8 and CP well.

Just moved another Blog to Blocksy Theme + Classic Editor + Divi Builder (to keep old posts that were made with Divi). Snappy performance and looks nice Perhaps, later I will do some optimizing, but out of the box it comes to 97 Desktop and 91 Mobile pagespeed.

The issue of missing margin/padding on my web solved. The cause are divi Dynamic CSS settings. I turned off that feature and the site working properly.

I have almost* migrated my blog site from WP to CP. And quite happy with results.

Update:
I broke the site (intentionally) - PHP 8 instead of 7.4 and now we have bliss! Restore from backup in action fixed

My GT-metrix and Lighthouse scores were very good with GeneratePress using a basic design. With 200+ posts and thousands of comments and replies.

After having redesigned the website, to get a nicer look easier to navigate, GT-metrix is still OK, but Lighthouse for mobile is crap. Below 20%. However, real-life experience, using a "fresh" mobile phone with an imperfect connection speed, is good - everything loads and shows in a second - text, images, all the layout is right.

The funny thing is that Google ads are the ones attributing to the poor Google Lighthouse scores.
They are set to load after all the other content, so don't impede user experience. But take seconds (sometimes 10) to load on a slower mobile-net speed.

There are two ways you can tackle this:
1. DIY:

On debian look up
jpegoptim
Optipng

For webp this is a useful link

2. Shortpixel has reasonable pricing plans and a good cli utility. Or Eww on Appsumo

LiteSpeed cache plugin does image optimization too, and it does it well.
The plugin is free but requires a LiteSpeed server to run properly.

I usually use squoosh.app - online, before uploading.

I am very happy with Shortpixel. Their free plan comes with 100(?) optimized images/month

I use the below to check if a .webp version exists, if not use convert to create it. The filename becomes image.png.webp for example, but that's how nginx checks (and also means it can serve the png if browser doesn't support webp)

What setup, themes, plugins, cdn are you using?

It does the job for each image. Unless you get it started on a website with hundreds of thousands of images, it should be able to keep running even on a large website.
