Sold out?! Does this mean C1V is a storage provider now? Unbelievable! Just when I thought there was enough low-end drama in this.

@foxone Thank you for the link. I think the cancellation procedure is very inconvenient. Customers should be careful about that.

Edit: After browsing the control panel of C1V, I found it has no differences between most providers in cancellation process: just click on the button of "Request Cancellation".

thanks for checking it out. now i can cancel it in advance and get a new VPS from a real Tier III datacentre

    I bench YABS 24/7/365 unless it's a leap year.

Best option is to cancel much in advance

Why would you do something like that? Why would you attempt something like that?

These machines are slow and designed just for idling to make customers feel better for having a VPS in Italy. Now you ended up as a noisy neighbor for the rest of respectful customers trying to idle like their servers. Now your "apt install" for 2 hours will likely cause a chain reaction which will probably lead to more maintenance and more reboots from provider.

Oh don't push @dev_vps , I guess the link is invalid. He just wanted to claim C1V was awful by posting a seemingly fantastic VPS. I have asked several times for the offer's link, but no single reply got, even never mention the name of the provider. Never mind though.

140 NVMe storage and just 10 € per year
And their judgment is clouded. Marketing experts know very well how to fully exploit this.

Very few customers will actually care to terms and conditions. The 50% resource usage clause is not mentioned in the offer post for a good reason.

Oh well, time is the most ruthless teacher. Some of them will learn from this experience, most will hop on to another vendor hoping a different outcome.

Maybe Gentoo or Latest Windows 11 if you are licensed, because Gentoo has a self-build mode which has high demand for CPU when users install software, therefore gives you another excuse or pretext to pick holes.

I'm happily using Debian 12 minimal on which runs P2P, backup daemon, private VPN while the average load is below 0.30.

Honestly speaking I don't want to reply to you in this thread because you constantly complaint about C1V in the wrong direction. So if you complain about its uptime or sla is below 95% or occasional high packet loss, then I would give sympathy, advice and/or some kind jokes, since those ailments do exist and I share some common experience with you.

But you compared this offer with your secret, out-of-stock, seemingly superb YABS (you kept posting some amazing YABSs to criticize the performance of C1V's VPS, but actually you didn't tell the provider name or any other details of your VPS).

In my eyes, you just wanted to show off, which is of no help. In contrast, I had some network problems with C1V's VPS several months ago, yet after opening a ticket, waiting, and interactively debugging with C1V's staff, the problems got fixed within days.

Anyway, you have your freedom and do what you like. Thank you.

  • @root said: Some people tend to think the whole MicroSD storage cluster is dedicated to them.

Your statement reminds me of a cheap MicroSD card of Chinese brand I bought around 10 years old, whose maximum speed is 1.1 MB/s then stabilizes at 800 KB/s. It's useless to me, so I installed it to my mother's smartphone as extended storage.

After that I only choose famous brands like SanDisk, Toshiba, or the like.

If you know how to install Debian 11 (or any other OS) directly from source iso url, that would be the best way to install OS on this VPS that comes with performance advisory. So keep the advisory in mind.

You should find that a netboot ISO is already mounted in the virtual CD-Rom, you can simply change the boot order temporarily, no need to mess with a donor OS. It's configurable via the 'edit pen' icon in the 'information' panel's title bar. You'll need to configure IP manually.
