AIO WP Migration WordPress Plugin (by Servmask) no longer is available for a one-time fee. Instead charges 69$/year now.
Another lifetime deal I happy I have snagged before it was gone :)

  • If I remember correctly, the deal was $69/lifetime right ?

  • I use that thing a lot, it just works and save time when migrating WP websites. Versus manually doing things. I go full legacy manual if the WP is outdated a lot, might get f* when restoring. So in those cases zip files uploads, dump DB / import, done.

    Yes, it was.

    Yeah, it's a great tool.

Seems like they've decided to not honour the lifetime.
Tech. support says it's all good - but I still get those errors and can't update.
    Frustrating.

Google says I'm far from the only one.

It is also worth noting that newer versions won't activate offline, so any LAN use is impossible, pracrticaly.

    Far from happy.

Hm that's odd. I didn't use it for a long time but just tried to install it on a wp install I have and it worked without issues.

Step 1: Install AIO WP Migration Public plugin from WP Store.

    Step 2: Upload Unlimited Extension:

Premium Features seem to be unlocked, too:

Back then I saved the Download Link for the Unlimited Extension as a bookmark in my browser and it still works.
Maybe try that again with the link.

Just noticed there are new features like Reset Hub and Scheduling:

In case you lost your purchase, try: https://servmask.com/lost-purchase

I've been using it for years.
I did save all the info, including the original download link (which used to work).

    Now it no longer works.

Hm, that's indeed odd. Have you tried the "lost purchase" link I posted above? Had to fill in my email I used for the purchase and received a new download link. Then you can download and manually install (not update) probably.

This calls for reverse engineering and forcing a "license". Also known as "nulled" plugin
(Note: Sarcasm. If you care about your wp, do NOT use illegal things)

    Yea, those were the days!

Now you have to write your own code to replicate the features you want. Maybe after the AI becomes smart enough, AI can write the plugin for you and, get this, have it actually work!

Sharing is caring! Do publish it on your github (after your testing/fixes) so we can enjoy the free backup/restore plugin!

Also, consider adding a scheduled backup to google drive or similar online platforms (if dont have it already, but i guess SFTP counts as one too) in case the server gets compromised...

The tech. support is still claiming it's just a temporary glitch.

The most recent "jewel" was a suggestion to "try without a VPN if you are using one" - as if my Net connection has anything to do with hosted WordPress updates not working.

    Sigh...

I test drived it on https://playground.wordpress.net/ and it loaded just fine but backup couldn't be restored. Could be due to limitations from the sandbox. I don't have a wp install to play around with setup rn, so I'll need to do that in some days. But sure, I'll put on GitHub if it works.

Ooo, not bad looking! AI generated scripts never work for me, so the fact that backup worked is a big deal already. For me, only "github copilot code assist", or as i call it, "AI auto-complete" works...

Going back-and-forth with the tech. support for about a week now.

"Your licence works. Try without a VPN."

I've tried without a VPN from at least two different computers and ISPs, it's not working, nor from the hosting server.

"Yes, very frustrating, try this one..."

    No, not working either...

Since they're saying your license is valid maybe ask them to issue a new license code along with a new download linkand invalidate the old ones. Maybe that'll work.

    Can updraft free:

    • Export test1.example.com
    • Import it on www.example.com
    • Fix any links and email domain changes (ideally with an option to do the same without altering email domains)?

That's why I found the AIO very helpful - it made such stuff simple and trivial.
    Especially for offline (LAN) setups.

I have definitely already used updraft free to import from domain x to domain y and also from domain to subdomain and vice versa. This should work and links are fixed automatically. Not sure about email domain changes, never had to do that personally. You'll have to check on that. But yeah, for migrating sites AIO is still very easy set and forget. That said, all migrations I did with updraft free worked just fine.

Fwiw WPVivid is developed by some guy from the LE community (forgot who) and also offers unlimited lifetime with lots of features (including pcloud): https://wpvivid.com/pricing/backup-migration

Our legacy licenses for unlimited sites might now actually be limited to 50 sites with new EULA if we accept updates lol

Updraft Plus is the first to try.
If it proves reliable and does all I need it to do in the free version.

Apparently, they went out of their way to prevent their plugin from working for anyone who isn't paying them a subscription - including the owners of the "unlimited lifetime" licences they sold.

That's like me selling you a bike and then breaking it on purpose because I've decided that subscription is better for me.

That's not a good move, but I am sure their "customers" will forget all about it in 3 months... That's why these people do this kind of stuff. Makes them more money with only a slight hit to their reputation.

Capitalism actually rewards sociopathy and greed.

That is what capitalism is. Uneven distribution of salaries, tax and more. Finding companies that in turn fund the government. Basically a hard focus on the capital. Anyway, dont want to make this into a political debate.

So what alternate are you looking at?

Updraft Plus is the first to try.
If it proves reliable and does all I need it to do in the free version.

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/

I'm also using it. I like the feature that it can backup to my Google drive. But it's not a migration plugin. Just a backup restore plugin.

I speak fluent sarcasm and broken logic. | I would agree with you, but thæn we’d both be wrong.

    Nope.

Gave up - every reply is "it's all working try without a VPN" (with different wording).

    It is fraud.

Well, they basically dont want to support a legacy feature that's not making them money.

This is not about the support.

Can't restore a backup on a different domain by importing it there?
That's what I wanted to test.

i did not try it, so dont know. I usually upload the db manually and make changes needed to run it on different domain...

That does work. Did it multiple times. They sell/used to sell(?!) an extra plugin extension for migration but that had extra features I guess. Moving from domain.com.to domain.xyz or sub.domain.com to domain.com never was an issue when I did it. Not sure if they changed anything as I haven't done this in a while, but should still work.

Well, this calls for a good old fashioned trial and error on 2 idlers!

    EDIT:

    From the plugin page:

    Migrate with UpdraftPlus

It’s easy to migrate your WordPress website to another web host, server or domain with this free version of UpdraftPlus.

To migrate, simply download your database, plugins, themes etc. from the source site, then upload them into your destination site.

When migrating, a built-in search-and-replace engine identifies old strings and replaces these to reflect the new location. UpdraftPlus saves you time and reduces the risk of broken links or missing files associated with manual migrations.

From what I am reading, it seems updraft free does not backup "wordpress" itself, only the wp-contents folder and database. So on your new server, you still need a valid wordpres installation (with updraft) to be able to restore your site. Seems normal to me...

The premium lets you backup everything + db so restore is easier.

That is the same how AIO WP Migration works.

You do need to install WP and the plugin, and then use the plugin to import the backup you made using that same plugin.

During the import, if the domain is different, the plugin auto-fixes all the links and options to work.

AIO WP Migration lets you uncheck what you don't want altered in that case (like email domains, for example, if your staging was configured to use the main domain's emails for testing and confirmation).

In that case you should be fine with updraft. Do update us with the differences and what is needed to migrate to a new site and new domain. Maybe a new blog post idea?

Yeah, that's what I've done when migrating with Updraft free iirc.

    1. Backup on source site. Download backup files.

    2. Create new wp install on destination hosting/domain

    3. Install Updraft free, upload backup files and restore. I think there was a prompt that domain is different and links will be replaced. Worked every time iirc :)
