Free Minecraft DDoS Protection + Performance

RadicRadic Provider
edited September 2025 in Free Offers and Stuff

Not affiliated with RS. I will not answer any questions about RS in this thread.

We've been working on Launchmc.com for a long time. It's designed by a cloudflare-like service geared toward Minecraft. Providing improved latency and DDoS protection with any provider (or home hosting!!).

We have soft launched and wanted to get some feedback from server owners on how to continuously improve this product. We also have a discord available.

I ask one thing, be nice and respectful, this is a completely free service that we're hoping to evolve into an awesome platform. Please keep conversations on track toward improvement of the product, I will not discuss anything outside of feedback for LaunchMC.

Separating this out into multiple posts because people don't read and skim over long posts.

How it works: LaunchMC Docs (super short read, lots of pictures!)

As for latency improvement, we currently only have 4 PoPs. As the number increases, there will be obviously improvements, right now, if you aren't next to a pop, you'll probably see a slight latency increase.

We will deploy additional PoPs closer to players.

Current PoPs as of Sept 1, 2025:
    -Singapore
    -Los Angeles
    -Miami
    -Germany

Post #3 - again, because people skim over long posts.

DDoS Protection - right now, we have our own platform sitting on top of NeoProtect + DF. We aren't limited to a specific provider, but it allows us to absorb super large attacks while adding our protection layer on top.

Feedback: The Discord channel is the preferred method of feedback. I please ask you to not insert any opinions unless you have a Minecraft server and have actually fully deployed and used the service.

    just awesome DDOS accessories.

Did I understand that right? I might try this out with a friends server and let you know if he lets me.

I moved all my websites to Carrd, and cancelled all my idlers.
    Save the earth, don't idle.

    Yes! You got it.

Even if you're running a private, small server, route through LaunchMC. The more traffic we get on the network, the more improvements we can offer.

We'll be adding more PoPs based on where traffic is being sourced from to slowly improve latency to/from those locations.

  • Once you launch a POP in South America I might give it a try!

Start using it and we'll launch a pop!

Does Miami add too much latency for you?

  • We pushed several performance improvements and fixes, including one that prevents IP spoofing in rare cases.

I'm located near Sao Paulo, so Miami adds about 100-120ms. To Sao Paulo I get anything from 5ms to 15ms depending on routes and other factors. I will add a request on the discord later on. Don't worry about me though, I don't understand demand for these down here is not very big.

Thanks for the feedback. We'll look into adding a PoP in SA.

If you know of any providers that specialize in anti-DDoS in SA, let us know. We don't want to surprise anyone with a service that attracts attacks.

  • Big announcement:

    V2 has been released!
-Players can now connect without going through the entry page.
-Server owners can now either provide the LaunchMC ping test page or list the connection IPs directly on their own website.

We're all ears! Tell us what features you want.

Remember, we have a discord at https://discord.launchmc.com

  • We're going to launch another PoP based on player demand! It'll be announced soon.

Sao Paulo PoP is now live!

  • A lot of bug fixes today based on user feedback:
    -Banning system now fixed
-Live connections not showing in the dashboard correctly
-Fixed an issue with deletion of servers.
-Fixed an issue where editing a server didn't sync with the forwarding engines.

WE NEED MORE USAGE/FEEDBACK!!!! WE WANT TO MAKE THIS PLATFORM SUPER AWESOME.

  • We're currently working with the community to develop a Minecraft plugin that will show the real source IPs and integrate the ban system.

  • Sao Paulo was taken offline temporarily due to limitations with GCore's anti-DDoS. We have a potential work-around. I'll hopefully know soon.

  • Sao Paulo is live again.

    Here's my latency from Miami:

  • Do you support some sort of proxy for people without public IPs? Somehow this is a thing where I live, but I know people who play Minecraft but can't host a server at their home.

You could attach your server to a Playit.gg worker, and then attach the worker to this, since Playit by itself does not offer Anti-DDoS and solely the tunnel.

What do you mean without public IPs? Does your ISP give you a NAT'd IP?

    CGNAT, probably

  • We're prepping some cool metrics features that we'll be rolling out soon. Also working on a plugin for servers to show/ban real IPs using the API.

If you're an experienced developer, we would love your help!

  • Now you can place the connection and latency information to each of our PoPs directly on your website with our new widget.

    Documentation: https://docs.launchmc.com/widget-implementation

@ReliableSite_Radic said: Does your ISP give you a NAT'd IP?

Yes, and somehow they don't even support dedicated IPv6 - or IPv6 at all.

edit, for development, what is your tech stack like? Python, rust, or what language is primary?

  • Connection metrics are live! You can view a history of player connections through LaunchMC to your server directly from the dashboard (https://dashboard.launchmc.com/).

  • We've started developing on the Minecraft plugin, it'll be released open source with the following features:
    1. It will use the API to get the real IP of the connecting player instead of showing the proxy IP.,
    2. It will manage the ban system so that IP bans are sent over the API for the real player IP instead of the proxy IP, this includes any plugins/mods that use the built-in ban system within MC.

  • We're working on bringing up a new edge location. If you can guess what it is, I'll give you a virtual high five.

  • A couple of fixes today and two cool things I want to share (either later today or this weekend)

All of these improvements were the result of user feedback and real world usage. So THANK YOU to everyone helping make this platform better!

    Improvements:
Fixed an issue where editing a server would break forwarding engine connectivity.
Fixed an issue where banned IPs didn't properly sync across all PoPs.

  • A new PoP has been added in Sydney! We're bring your Minecraft servers closer than ever to your players. Keep your eyes peeled for more PoPs and an MC plugin coming soon.

  • Some backend fixes are in place. Just a quick thank you to those of you using LaunchMC to proxy your MC traffic. We're seeing consistent growth on the platform (metrics have only been in place for the last week or so).

  • Deployed an update to player count metrics for LaunchMC to fix inaccuracies. Hoping to get a beta plugin for Spigot/Paper servers in the next few days.

  • WE NEED YOUR HELP! We have an addon ready that shows the real connecting IP and fixes in-game banning. It needs testing before we release it public. Please create a ticket in the #open-ticket channel ( https://discord.launchmc.com) and we'll send you all the details.

  • RadicRadic Provider

OK guys. Now that LaunchMC is ready and being used, we're going to start pumping tons more traffic through it. We have a bunch of awesome contests we're gearing up to launch!

Is there anything you'd like to see for prizes?

  • RadicRadic Provider

How does a free server for a year sound?

  • RadicRadic Provider

    Lots of updates today.

    1. We now have a script to help you automatically update your firewall to only allow connections to your MC server from LaunchMC edge/PoP locations. Please see https://docs.launchmc.com/origin-shield for more information. If you run into issues, please #open-ticket

    2. LaunchMC is growing quickly, looking for someone who has great reach in the Minecraft space, specifically server owners. Please DM me if interested in the position.

    3. Just a little preview, we're quietly filtering attacks for you guys and endlessly enhancing our protection as attacks evolve.

Thanks to everyone who's been using LaunchMC. We couldn't have gotten here without you. We reached new record player counts yesterday.

  • RadicRadic Provider

IMPORTANT UPDATE: The IPs for LA and Miami have been updated. They were previously routed through NeoProtect, which is offline for the foreseeable future.

If you use SRV records, make sure to update them.

If your players connect through the LaunchMC.com domain or widget, the IPs are already updated.

    More updates at https://discord.launchmc.com

We're working on a huge feature that many have requested.

    Updates coming soon!

Poor translation. I meant, is there a Hong Kong node? My current latency to Singapore is fluctuating by over 100ms.

Not yet, where are you based?

V3 is here! One of our most requested features is not having to choose an edge location. You can now connect to a single auto-optimized location.

This is live IMMEDIATELY! The widget has also been updated.

We've also made using your own domain easier than ever! A guide has been setup at https://docs.launchmc.com/custom-domain

There's lots more in store to make LaunchMC even better.

  • RadicRadic Provider

There's more coming! We're working big big improvements.

  • RadicRadic Provider

It's been a bit since the last update. I wanted to let you know that we're working on completely rebuilding the forwarding engine from the ground up to include some amazing features.

    Hoping to announce it tomorrow!

  • RadicRadic Provider

You've all been patient. Here we go:

The entire packet forwarding engine has been completely rebuilt from the ground up. It was painful, but worth it.

We now NATIVELY support Proxy Protocol V2! Just enable it in your settings and configuration.

Remember, LaunchMC is 100% free and fully supports Java and Bedrock.

DDoS protection is free, and we have tons of PoPs around the world (more being added regularly!!).

Have issues? Just #open-ticket at https://discord.launchmc.com

  • RadicRadic Provider

Some great announcements coming today, new PoP(s?), and some more. Stay tuned!

  • RadicRadic Provider

I always seem to be days late making these announcements, but I promise this one is extra juicy. First, I'd like to thank the LaunchMC community, there have been so many of you that have helped us test things and spent hours nailing down bugs and enhancements to our NEW packet forwarding engine with proxy protocol v2 support.

    What's the news?
    1. So many bug fixes.
    2. So many performance enhancements.
    3. Pretty much almost another complete rebuild of the packet forwarding engine.
    4. New UDP limits for Bedrock support!
    5. NEW Amsterdam, NL PoP! (Sponsored by @addepade08 )
    6. NEW London, UK PoP! (Sponsored by @techstreet - vyperhosting.com )
    7. NEW Stockholm, Sweden PoP! (Sponsored by @gabbloxen )

When using the "global" DNS record, you should be automatically connected to the closest available PoP. You can still choose a PoP from the player connection page manually.

LaunchMC is 100% free, no ads, no paid tiers. Want to get involved in this awesome project? Here's what we're looking for:

-Help with marketing (spread the word, videos, anything you can offer)
-Frontend design/content (the frontend was built primarily with AI for a quick launch, we have been putting all of our effort into the technology)
-Additional PoPs (small VPS, 2 cores, 8GB RAM, must be DDoS protected full time, not on-demand, please no Hetzner)
-Have some skill I haven't thought of? Reach out.

Support and discussion is available on https://discord.launchmc.com
