This just came in. Sad to read, IH has been one of my first providers when I started going down the LowEndRabbithole.

We're writing to inform you that Inception Hosting services will cease on 15th January 2025. We want to thank you sincerely for being a valued Customer. After many years, this decision was not taken lightly.

Since Clouvider Limited acquired Inception Hosting Limited in 2021, the two brands have offered similar services; however, the Inception Hosting platform has both aged software and hardware, which would have been facing upgrades or replacement in 2025. With this in mind, we have made the decision that consolidating our offerings under Clouvider to provide you with an enhanced service is the best way forward.

    Similar situation, no longer have services, but I used them for a long time - sad to see them go even if they are merging it. Searched through my emails and I seemed to have services going back 7 years now.

    The (closed by now) NAT "mini" VPS in Japan was the first VPS I could afford, back then.

    Up since 1309d 12hr

    The discount means I'll get almost the same VPS/same cost as that one with Clouvider, so appreciate being taken care of.

    But going to miss the 4-core 2xIPv4 one for 10 Euro/yr.

    I paid for renewals a few hours before that email was sent out 🤦🏼‍♂️. I'm sure there'll be no refund issues though.

    Sad to hear, have been using them for over a decade, have been super reliable, most eggs in one basket for me.

    Will likely migrate some to Clouvider, but they don't seem to offer storage oriented VPS's, any recommendations in London for ~500GB with similar reliability.

    They have always been US based. As far as I know, @Kujoe (not sure if that's his real account) has never used any location other than US DCs.
    I canceled some decade old VPSes 2–3 years ago from Securedragon, Xenvz.co.uk and Weservit simply because the 128–250MB VPS packages I had were so damn outdated considering today's market.
    But they were damn stable...

    I'm genuinely sad to read this message. After the acquisition by Clouvider, I feared this day would come, and sadly, today is that day.
    Like many, InceptionHosting was one of my first providers when I started venturing down the LowEndRabbitHole. In fact, I had almost zero experience with Unix, let alone running something headless. Tinkering around with VPSes has been instrumental to my career. The skills I learned years ago still apply today, and InceptionHosting played a role in that by providing an affordable platform to experiment. If I broke something, I could easily reinstall it and start from scratch. I remember (trying to) set up a Mumble server right around when TeamSpeak changed their license structure. Yes, kids, before Discord, we ran our own stuff.

    I never had any issues with Anthony's service or servers. They've been rock solid from the start, which might be the reason I still own a couple of them. Class act for giving us ample time to migrate and, even more so, for providing refunds and free-of-charge service until then.

    @InceptionHosting Ant, I'm not sure if you're still around, but thanks again for being such a great host over the past 13 years. I wish you all the best with your future endeavors.

    Ohh wow, that's sad. Over a year ago I moved away from ih because of the aged hardware but the six or seven years until then have been really great. Clouvider is ok but pricing is just semi-good for me.
    The good thing apparently is that only ih closes but Ant remains here and doesn't retire. Hope to see you around at the just starting peak season.

    I went with Clouvider's 50% off Coupon. That is still more than I paid before, but I am sure it is worth it. Not having to worry has a value when you get older. And I may hear from Anthony in the unlikely case that I need support. Sounds great to me as an overall package. :)

    I don't think that's an option, as DA discontinued those licenses and only legacy ones tied to the IP remained. The email I received said: "IP addresses cannot be retained".

    Started with a UK VPS in 2017 and eventually moved over to their NL location. This one is going to be a tough one to replace as I can count on maybe one hand the number of times their services have gone down over the years.

    I guess all good things must come to an end. It was a privilege to enjoy the quality of service for the price we got it for without having to jump through any hoops to actually obtain it. As my favourite reliable no-nonsense host, InceptionHosting will be very much missed.
