There are two different coupon codes depending on what you're trying to buy. The smaller plans must be paid for quarterly at minimum, but the coupon works for longer payment cycles for larger discounts. Ah, gotcha. I'd say we target two different segments of the market and operate our businesses differently as seen by our marketing styles and choices of words used on our websites. Our relationship isn't an uncommon one in this industry, all things considered.

I mean by that logic Crunchbits competes with their upstream IonSwitch. Hosting is complicated sometimes, and all three companies are ultimately going for something different when it comes to target customers. Like @MannDude said, it's really not uncommon, I see it all the time.
Time is a flat circle, everyone competes with everyone for a dollar. It also comes down to what market segment you want to target.
I value what @MannDude brings to the table (as a provider, his niche) and I think he is much better suited to handle that than we are internally. I don't know if he's still blowing his millions over on Khaosan Road in Bangkok, but I do know that we specifically try to offer him deals that make sense (for both of us--of course, but there is significant value in dealing with 1 @MannDude versus 500 individual customers). It isn't just him, there are some other providers using us (public or private, not for me to spill) and we value that business as well. I have personally modified/dropped parts our product stacks to not compete with our downstreams. There's a reason we don't offer certain things we definitely have the hardware/capacity to offer, and there are certain segments I think myself (and our team) are generally better suited to focus on.
That being said, I don't think we compete with IonSwitch

There is a decent chance we'll also begin to offer our CloudLinux Shared hosting in both Liberty Lake, WA and Allentown, PA later this month.
We're waiting on some updates in our KC location and we'll migrate our Texas shared hosting customers to KC. This is the only service (Texas shared hosting) not on our network currently.
