Someone just didn't read the rules and tried to bid on everything:
I LOVE FREE SERVERS ❤️ LUCKY DIP
I LOVE FREE SERVERS ❤️ ADVIN
I LOVE FREE SERVERS ❤️ HOSTCRAM
I LOVE FREE SERVERS ❤️ SERVER FACTORY
gomi
And in an inception-esque move:
I LOVE FREE SERVERS ❤️ ADVIN
Advin
However, due to an unforeseen captcha slowing this entry down, it was submitted after the deadline and was therefore disqualified. Ironically, if it was on time, he'd have won his own server!
@kheng86 wins I LOVE FREE SERVERS ❤️ LUCKY DIP
because the other two are allocated, this defaults to I LOVE FREE SERVERS ❤️ HOSTCRAM
Please can you guys can make sure you have an account created in the control panel for the appropriate provider, and then PM me the email address you used to sign up so that I can raise the ticket for the transfer.
Hope you enjoy your servers, and sorry to everyone who missed out.
I feel so grateful that I won one of these! But thinking about it again, I feel the HOSTCRAM VPS is too high specs for me, I wouldn't be able to make full use of it. Would you please choose another winner? Sorry for the trouble

No problem, I'm sure someone else will be happy to have it.
If there are still unallocated servers (because multiple people had a preference for the same machines), there will be additional rounds for each unallocated server
For each server, all those who expressed a preference for it, along with an equal number of people from the lucky dip pool, will enter a raffle and the top result after sorting using the string "$i-$srv-$BEACON" followed by SHA1 will win, where srv will be adv, hc or sf
There's nobody else who expressed a preference for HostCram, so I'll do a luck dip with everyone who remains:
$ BEACON=5591e1fc8e241a24eecb0f07898d277968288c63fefc2c72e4d62c3269b6ef33 ; for i in jmaxwell Dazzle spiritlhl webkesh ; do echo -n "$i-hc-$BEACON" | sha1sum - |sed -e "s/-/$i/" ; done | sort |head -1

Please can you make sure you have an account created in the control panel for the appropriate provider, and then PM me the email address you used to sign up within 24 hours so that I can raise the ticket for the transfer.
Also submitted after the deadline, and I didn't even notice as I was writing the results post. If it's any consolation, you wouldn't have been in the first 3 anyway.

Another reminder, please PM me the email address you used for HostCram by 13:19 UTC today (just over an hour and a half from now).
If I haven't heard from you by then, I'll offer the KVM-3C to the next person from the lucky dip results.
Who'd have thought it'd be so hard to give things away? I gave him more than an hour's grace on top of the 24 hours, and still haven't heard from him, so I'm passing this to the next person...

Sorry you missed out, but I wanted to make sure I had the ticket for service transfer in before the weekend. @jmaxwell had already given my his details by the time you replied, as I've already started the transfer process to him.

I had no interest in participating. What I want to say is that what @ralf did was both generous and fun to watch. Thank you to Ralf for the show!
Thanks for the comments! It was fun to do, and I liked the idea of doing several at once for a giveaway, even if it made it a bit more complicated.
I think my takeaway is that the beacon is a fair way of offering things like this, and surprisingly easy. The only tricky part is working out which beacon number you will actually need, because they don't supply information on the frequency of updates (which seems to be every 30 seconds) or the time of the last beacon. If I do this again, I might knock up a quick website that allows you to just enter a desired time and it provides a link to the right beacon, and another box you can type in the names and get the results.

Thanks ❤️ ralf!
