if you just need storage then servarica should suffice with better specs all round

    I bench YABS 24/7/365 unless it's a leap year.

Servarica or HostHatch would have way better specs with a decent amount of storage :)
If you don't need it, yes, cancel it :)

Kimsufi KS1 is still a dedicated server. Ask the community if someone wants it, so you may transfer it to them.

KS-1 is only supposed to have 1TB disk, so you have yourself a decent one there...

My KS-1 on the other hand only has 0.5TB disk and I've still not got rid of it yet!

  • Is OVH that bad? I am not sure why you guys keep complaining about it

My VPS with them is one of the most reliable one among all the other VPS I have

食之无味 弃之可惜 - Too arduous to relish, too wasteful to discard.

  • Cancel immediately. Ovh sucks donkey balls

    Why?

  • Everyone say OVH is bad, but no one can explain why, oh well.

    marry
i think @FAT32 needs a wife... he has had too many lonely nights... non of @Falzo films satisfy him anymore.

  • @FAT33 does not need a wife. What he needs is a reformat and reborn into @FAT64.

Only then, his life will be brighter.

  • You certainly can. I've seen some people marrying their USB sticks.

In short, people nowadays are simply nuts.

Poor quality support, dogshit upload on their budget products. What you save in money, you lose in hair being pulled out when you need support.

  • Meh, I've never needed support with either of my kimsufi machines.

The KS-1 only has a 100mbit network interface, but has been ultra reliable. In almost 9 years, it's never lost power (or network that I know of).

My KS-LE-1 had a few issues in initial setup when I was messing around with network interfaces and firewall settings (when first experimenting with virtual machines) and the automated systems kept taking my system into recovery mode. After I turned off the server monitoring, this system has been fantastic.

If you never need support, and the limited upload is fine for you, fair enough my dear fellow.

I was in the same boat, until I wasn’t. I’ve decided I’m going to support smaller, independent providers with my BarryBucks, take the hit on cost knowing that I’ll be treated like a human being rather than an inconvenience.

  • in the spirit of low end people, I'll let them treat me like a dog as long as they give me cheap
support means nothing, cheap means everything

  • Why do people hate OVH?

From my experience OVH is quite good, and KS1 still is a server to fight for. Just because there are storage VPS out there, it does not mean dedicated servers became obsolete.

  • OVH is Obviously Very Horrible.

On the other hand, if a VPS provider runs on OVH dedicated servers, should we consider them bad too?

OVH has nice DDoS protection for gaming/voice servers. Almost every Minecraft/CSGO/FiveM GTA 5 server is hosted there (at least European servers).

How it goes everywhere. Many say Contabo is bad, and I thought it was well enough that I run my a mail server on them now.

That Atom CPU is shit though, but that's a diff story.

Is this pay peanuts get mangoes scheme? Running something for an infinite time is cheaper than human labor.

  • I'd be interested in taking it off your hands for the renewal price.

Cheap dedis are my drug, and I'm too far gone to turn back.

  • i got one yesterday, gonna cancel my i3 ks7

  • Well, you can in theory make it pay itself and keep it for free.
I just got a bunch of KS1 for that purpose.

    Mining on an Atom or?

No, you rent out like 1TB of Disk space on that Atom, give it 2 months and it should pay for itself.
You can use the rest of the Storage, Memory and CPU for other stuff.

    https://scpri.me/

    One of my KS1

SCP dropped a bit due to the crash, it uses to be around 0.50-0.70 for every Coin.
Still, it should pay the server now.

    https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/scprime/

  • I mean, it's superficially a good idea to rent out spare disk capacity, and I understand the proof requirements, etc...

But it'd be an awful lot easier if they just paid in cash. The only reason for the stupid coin even existing is so the early adopters can make a bazillion coins before everyone else comes on board, and so they will then artificially tax everyone else going forward.

Well, the wallet runs unlocked, you can automate to transfer the payouts to a central wallet and cash it out.
Should be possible to do it automatically and then just pay the servers with it.

    I don't really mind.
If I knew before they went live surely I would have mined a bunch of coins, it did peak at 2$ per coin.

  • 1.8TB for 5EUR/month? Seems nice.

Yea, most of the KS1 are now deployed with 2TB, does not matter if GRA or RBX.
It would be neat though, if they bring back the setup removal promo.
