What does this mean in concrete terms?

Existing contracts: +18.51%
New contracts: +24.33%
Local Block Storage and Server Storage (existing and new contracts): +21.52%

Pretty much what it says, but they also said that everyone concerned will receive an email about this

Basically, the price will increase by this percentage at the time of your next bill (i.e., at the end of the current billing period for the service in question), but not before May 1st

The wild part is not the increase but the contract stuff. Supplier reneging on signed contracts for a quick buck is wild

Yes, it would make much more PR sense to apply the price increase at the time of the renewal of the present contract (instead of applying it at the time of the next bill)

That said, in many cases, the contract period and the billing period coincide

Right. I would have thought that there would be negative legal consequences for the supplier in this case. As you say, it's wild

It may have been done to them upstream, and each level of the contract chain may have a "force majure" clause, which, in simple terms, means. something got fucked, it can't be unfucked, we can't contract any more, sorry.
