A Familiar Face Returns to the LES Staff Team…

Some returns feel special... and this is one of them.

We’re excited to announce that Anthony Smith @backtogeek @AnthonySmith , the original founder of LowEndSpirit, is officially rejoining the LES Staff team.

Ant was instrumental in shaping LES from its humble beginnings (even prior to the forum it ended up being): establishing the culture, values, and standards that helped make this community what it is today. His vision laid the groundwork for a forum centered on fairness, transparency, and giving smaller providers and enthusiasts a place to thrive.

Having him back on staff brings both experience and perspective, and we’re looking forward to working together as LES continues to evolve.

Please join us in welcoming Ant back home.

    tl;dr

    Had to step away initially due to a conflict of interest, which no longer exists, and then I did not come back to much due to ongoing health issues, which are still ongoing, but i have some time.

    Might change my username back to the more familiar @AnthonySmith ??

    I found this in the staff section.. I don't even remember writing it, from many years ago:

    I just want to be absolutely clear, I am 110% not precious about any of this so while I think I have said it a few times now, just to drive the point home I absolutely do not care how you guys do any of this, I consider myself completely out of the picture already at this stage operationally.

    I did mean it, and I have never claimed any special privileges here since I hope, but time flies by, and here we are, it feels right.

    Old LES was an IPv6-only hosting support community 🙂 Like... "Don’t you dare open a support ticket for those 2 bucks a year - I'm there to make sure the infrastructure works, for anything else go to the LES forum and ask there!"

    well...... NAT IPv4 + IPv6, but close enough haha

    LES has had 2 distinct lives, the first was a sub project for NAT IPv4 + IPv6, the initial point was IPv6 only with IPv4 access, the reality was 99% of people just used ipv4.

    It has its own forum, it ran on 64mb vps

    Then tOGF was getting so scammy and out of hand, I forked, and used the LES domain, many felt the same, I just opened the door, many have never forgiven that, I think options are good, it is what it is, my memory is not great these days (Medication) I just realised today it might have been me who setup the LES Discord server? I see my name on the rules and my old dog's face (RIP Freeway) but I have zero recollection of doing it haha.

    anyway LES history is pretty well documented, I had fun reading it not long ago, I had forgotten most of it.

    I respond to requests there, shake my head a lot, usually regret it, and leave. It's a strange model, but negative engagement is still engagement if numbers are the only driver.

    To be honest these days it feels like an aggressive Chinese deals forum in English.
