How do you name your servers?

  • Server company name and basic specs, like "ovh4c4g80g". Boring, but it lets me know when i ssh in what I should or shouldn't be expecting to throw at it

  • I didn't come up with the naming scheme of our servers, but I always wanted to do a South Park cluster where all the server names are characters from the show.

    RamNode: High Performance Cloud VPS
    NYC - LA - ATL - SEA - NL - DDoS Protection

With Kenny being the one with the lowest uptime

Kenny is rebooted by cron each night.

As for naming, purely purpose for me:
    web0X
    mx0X
    smtp-out0X
    backupX
    nsX and so on..
