Howdy.
I had a chat with @mikho we are both pretty strapped for time, at least for a few months anyway, other work, my health, etc etc.
But we really want to get more stuff thrown at the blog https://lowendspirit.com/blog
We are not looking for a writer or the world's best wordsmith or anything, just someone who can sign up for VPS/Dedicated servers, let us pay the invoice and you do your review in a private section of the forum, we will then turn that into a blog post.
The reward: you get to keep the VPS or dedicated server for the period you pay for; if it's a yearly VPS, you keep it for that year; if it's shared hosting, same. It's unlikely you will get a yearly dedicated deal, but the same applies to any service type, even VPN's or PAAS Build services or game servers.
You need to be willing to sign up yourself and then allow us to pay the invoices if possible. This will all be paid for from the LES Advertising revenue directly, so hosts that advertise here should probably be considered. ![]()
We are looking for a bit more than just the specs and the yabs, although that is obviously needed where applicable, but we also don't want to tell you exactly how or what to do; some thought is required.
To apply, either tell us here or DM me @AnthonySmith and @mikho with your thoughts on how you would do it and what your ideas are.
We are not limiting this to 1 person necessarily, and there is no minimum or maximum amount of work required.
If this turns out to be fruitful, it is not beyond the realm of possibility that it can turn into a paid role, but initially we are looking to run this for 3 months.
Any ideas are welcome, if you dont want to do it but always thought "I wish xyz data existed" then say so, it might give others some inspriation.
Cheers!

If you are unsure what to include in such a blog post, we can provide you with some examples/bullet points that would work for the service you have signed up for.

What do you
expect to be in a blog post?
How many times, a week/month should it appear?
Does it need to be benched, or can other things be runned on it, just to show the options of used machines?
Important question: Budget?
I think you need to read the post again.

I can give you a VERY long list on things to include but that would never be written at all.
If you have a look at other reviews written by users on this forum and other forums, you will get very close to what we expect to be in a blog post.
Here are some example things if you would review a VPS.
Support
If tested.....
Specs, Yabs (a couple of times), latency, routing, IP reputation
Not saying all of these must be included, but its stuff that readers/users would like to know.
And there's probably a ton of other options.
oh ... if you write 1 review... it's ok, if you write more ... better

If I was still in the field, this would be a fun thing to do on the sidelines- but I just lack the interest. Besides, I need to do 10,000 steps/day on average to get a $1,000 grant for the city. That tends to take several hours out of my evenings. It's one thing to phone shitpost while walking, but not all that easy to deploy a VPS while doing so.
And I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords.
