I recently bought my first VPS and have been reading LowEndTalk a lot while researching providers and reading reviews. LowEndSpirit was mentioned there several times as a smaller sister community, so I followed the trail here.
A little about me:
I'm a graduate student from China and a complete beginner with servers. I got into this through open-source software — I wanted to self-host an open-source project, which is what led me to buy my first VPS. I am learning Nginx/Apache and honestly, I guess I should have tackled it earlier. I used AI to develop a sandbox to tackle some of the configs. Having a second set of eyes on your work, does boost your confidence a bit. Willing to share what I have learned so far in testing my configs.

I'm a graduate student from China and a complete beginner with servers. I got into this through open-source software — I wanted to self-host an open-source project, which is what led me to buy my first VPS.
