Just FYI, I have a custom tag.

Keeping a server completely offline is one way to secure a server.

Linus, before his meltdown and subsequent "I am gonna retire" video, he talked about Floatplane a lot. Has it ever taken off?
-
I don't know you much, yet, so nothing.
-
@Cider is OP's soulname.
-
Speaking of alternatives, what else is there?
-
@Cider, you need to do LES exclusive deals.
-
Demanding a hefty payment is fine. What irks me is when they wonder why they failed later. But I am more surprised by a fact that they are still there. I thought it died off.
-
Kinda true. The last time I left Canada was 20 years ago or so.
-
Never used any VPN service so far. No raids at my home.
-
The absolute minimum is 69 (lol) CAD for basic, aye, BASIC, cable. 95 for 2nd tier. 130 for the best. UK's "TV license" is retarded also.
-
The really sad thing about cable/fiber TV is that, no matter how much you pay, you still can't watch the Spiffing Brit.
-
Why not? Tube P is 14 CAD per month for me. And my whole family can share that one account. Cable service in 2022 costs 100 CAD per month. That's a middle of road tier. You want better channels, it's 130. No brainer for me. You like some…
-
I just pay for Tube premium. Given how much I watch/listen it, I feel it's worth it. Not paying for a cable service certainly frees up the budget a lot. I don't even watch TV. Haven't watched it for at least a decade.

Most mods have already left. There are three left as far as I can see, who are Pie, Rain, and the guy above.
-
(Quote) That's the thing. Energy price dictates prices for everything. Once it goes up significantly, everything else will.
-
Fuck me. Gas price went up from 154 to 184. Took only 2 or 3 days to go up this high. Worse, it's gonna keep going up.
-
Gas price went up by about 10% so far in Canada. I've been told to expect further increases, along with price increases for everything else. Covid has already had a significant impact.
-
Katie, you know we love you, but if you take free stuff from us, we will revolt! Advin has given us his word (I heard it, somehow), that he is going to offer us free trials. Let him be.
-
Yeah, it's awesome Advin has decided to offer some free trials for us in this harsh trying times.
-
Yeah, I can get on with 2 weeks of free trials.
-
Sure, sure, I simply do not trust anyone, especially it's a one-man show. If I need temp servers, I am going to order an ordinary service from a company and do it discreetly without making a fuss.
-
Anything "temporary" is questionable. Those who dare offering them, questionable itself. I've seen some do data mining on such services, so no.
-
Nope. I am not generally interested in services from questionable sources.
-
Personally, I consider anything older than Haswell level garbage in 2022.
-
I personally never use RAID at home. I like to keep things dead simple. But then I barely have 5TB of data to keep. Not much of a sentimental person, I am.
-
Is it just me or does katapult sound somewhat like kaput? The end is nigh?
-
(Quote) Aye. Think of it like this. When a node is shared with 666 people, it's just a share hosting node. Now, when a shared account is shared by further 666 people, it is a shared shared hosting account. In other words, it is more densely p…

Normal. Try booting up an OVH vps for the first time. You will get hundreds of incoming connections, all trying to hack into your new, unpatched, vps. Thus, it has to be said that the end is nigh.
