Nice write-up. Anything that helps simplify the dark magic of IPv6 is always good :)

Neither. Get a lot of suitably spec'd cheap KVM, install proxmox on them all, enjoy best of both worlds.

(Quote) Thanks for your reply, I'll try that when I get the chance and report back for science.

(Quote) @Mason any idea which rclone flags help make that work?

Got a prem Inception Hosting bundle but not entering the draw, you are amazing for arranging this @seriesn - you're a truly beautiful person and I wish you all the best :)

I get the nextcloud thing.. to a new user, you end up with a nosql database (disk io heavy) and a default set of plugins/apps that also thrash disk (activity, photos, versions, etc) and the whole shebang starts bringing a spinning disk to it's …

(Quote) It's a safe default. Everyone here came from that place, we all know how things are and if anyone feels so inclined to sample their wares they can do so from there. Bonus points come later when this forum isn't full of posts about…

I'm feeling hopeful that LES is going to be a lot more civilized than LET, should be easy for everyone to do the right thing here.. either way this will be LES first official BF so there's that to celebrate

(Quote) More like a finely aged scotch in your case - perhaps not so glamorous as you would like, but that's the compliment I'll afford you sir ;)

(Quote) Haha yes, I'm very very happy those days are in the past :)

WHT is suck in the late 90's, stagnant and feels like an abandoned old museum of historical relics such as set-up fees, $30/month for 512mb RAM type things. Viva LE*

That's a very fair set of rules Anthony. I like how you've "given enough rope" so to speak with regards to aff links, but maybe add some clarification that it falls under the general rule of being done tastefully (labelled as aff…

(Quote) You could.. but it's probably best to use that assumption to know how much money to set aside for BF.. ie.. "is my BF budget $X or $XX or $XXX or maybe even $XXXX+"

Sounds interesting, I take it the whole machine would be dedicated to the customer just running the one VM? As long as you can pass all the flags like vt-x it would be awesome.
-
Tl;dw but tell me it had an actual terminal "bell", that would be awesome.

Looks like it's got potential once those (mainly UI/UX) issues are ironed out.

Jesus christ! That's some nasty stuff, hopefully they jail the perps. At least I know why my server went down.. time to spin up the backup plan for "linux ISO acquisition"

I need about 1TB of storage, Los Angeles would be ideal. Don't want to pay normal prices, am expecting a discount of course. The challenge is that it needs to have reasonable IO, not network storage, for Nextcloud use.

(Quote) I only have one service with servarica at the moment, and it's a yearly ipv6-only deal from BF I believe, and honestly I've just idled it. I've cut down a lot on my VPS collection these days, sticking to the providers that I&…

(Quote) I agree with that 100% - One thing I just considered was that they also used HDD which was the cause of their main issues that I can recall (horrible IO) plus a lot of abusive clients that they attracted/appealed to/allowed who thrashed the …

Nice idea Ant! I'm interested to see how this plays out, and will buy one once I can think of a meaningful use for it. My only concern would be that the usage patterns you'll see on these would not reflect real-world results (will they a…

The easiest way to test this is by opening many tabs of Plex, and play a video in each one. Make sure you set the quality to anything other than "original" to ensure it transcodes each video instead of direct playing.

(Quote) It's fantastic value and performance is excellent, go for it :-)

I will trade you 1 roll of 2 ply toilet paper for 10 years of your highest spec'd service, sir. Edit: with full management ofc

(Quote) Why would they? That's like comparing apples and oranges. The EPYC has a slower clock, so those people would buy a Ryzen for much better performance and much lower price, not the EPYC 7502P.
